How Much Does a Compressed Sofa Cost? B2B Price Guide (2026)

There is no single wholesale price for a compressed sofa — it moves with model size, foam grade, fabric and quantity. What we can give you openly is the price structure: how EXW becomes FOB, how to value a full container, and what really drives the unit cost — so you can read any supplier quote like a purchasing manager.

1. The short answer

A compressed sofa's landed cost is built from four layers:

Cost layerWho sets itWhat it depends on
EXW unit priceFactory quote per modelSize, foam grade (35D–37D), fabric spec, cover type, packaging, order quantity
China export chargesFreight forwarder / factoryIndicatively ~USD 1,000 per container converts EXW to FOB
Sea freightShipping line, at current ratesDestination port, container size (20GP / 40GP / 40HQ), season
Import chargesYour countryDuties, VAT, destination port charges, inland delivery

Because vacuum compression removes up to 70% of the shipping volume, layer three — sea freight per sofa — is where the compressed format wins: a 40HQ carries 206–400 compressed sofas instead of 30–40 traditional ones.

2. EXW vs FOB vs CIF: what each quote includes

  • EXW (Ex Works) — the sofa finished and packed at our Foshan factory. You arrange everything from the factory gate onwards.
  • FOB (Free on Board) — EXW plus China export local charges (trucking to port, customs declaration, port fees). This is the standard comparison point between factories.
  • CIF (Cost, Insurance & Freight) — FOB plus sea freight and insurance to your destination port. Import clearance and inland delivery remain yours.

When comparing supplier quotes, always confirm the Incoterm first: a "cheaper" EXW quote can lose to a FOB quote once port charges are added, and vice versa. Read the full FOB / CIF / DDP comparison.

3. What drives the unit price (and what shouldn't)

  • Foam grade — 35D/45H, 36D/61H or 37D/70H; density and hardness are the biggest honest cost drivers
  • Cover type — a removable, washable cover with inner bag roughly doubles the upholstery labour and material cost versus a fixed cover on bare foam
  • Fabric specification — Martindale rating, weight (g/m²), OEKO-TEX certification
  • Order quantity — MOQ is 10 sets per model; full containers get the best per-unit price
  • Packaging & branding — private-label printing, custom cartons, upgraded vacuum bags

What shouldn't move the price: the vacuum pack itself. Every KCK.CASA sofa ships with the full compressed pack — foam body, frame, upholstery, inner bag and export carton — included in the quoted price, itemised on the specification sheet.

4. How to value a full container

Container value = loading quantity × EXW unit price. Worked example of the method (with placeholder prices):

  1. Confirm the loading quantity for your model — use the container loading calculator (a 40HQ takes roughly 400 single-seaters, 272 two-seaters or 206 three-seaters)
  2. Multiply by the quoted EXW unit price per model
  3. Add China port charges (~USD 1,000 per container for FOB)
  4. Add the current sea-freight rate to your destination port
  5. Add your country's duty and VAT on the CIF value

The result is your landed cost per sofa — the only number that matters when comparing a compressed-sofa program against traditional sourcing.

5. How to get a quote from us

  1. Pick models & quantities — browse the catalogue and note the models (and colour splits) you want, or describe your target segment and we will shortlist
  2. Tell us your destination port — so the quote carries the current freight rate, not a guess
  3. Receive the formal quotation — EXW and FOB per model, MOQ and lead time in writing, typically within 1–2 business days

Registered trade partners receive the full catalogue with wholesale pricing and priority production slots via the Professionals page.

6. Reading a cheaper quote: the cost-transparency checklist

When a competitor's quote comes in lower for "the same" sofa, compare line by line before celebrating:

  • Foam density — is it 36D or 30D? Density is the first thing cut from a cheap quote and the hardest to see on delivery
  • Cover construction — removable & washable, or fixed? Fixed covers cost roughly half the upholstery labour
  • Packaging — full vacuum pack with inner bag, or a thin bag and hope?
  • Incoterm — EXW vs FOB vs CIF; align them before comparing totals
  • Documentation — are fire-safety and REACH reports included, or available at all?

A quote that is transparent on these five lines is a supplier you can audit. A quote that is just one number is a supplier you cannot.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a compressed sofa cost wholesale?

It depends on model size, foam grade, fabric specification and order quantity — so we quote per model rather than publishing one number. What we publish openly is the price structure: EXW unit price, China port charges that convert EXW to FOB (indicatively around USD 1,000 per container), and sea freight per container, so you can build a landed-cost model from any quote.

How do I get a price list?

Send us the models and quantities you are interested in (or your target retail segment) through the contact page, with your destination port. You receive a formal quotation covering EXW and FOB pricing per model, typically within 1–2 business days. A full catalogue with wholesale pricing is available to registered trade partners.

What is included in the quoted price?

Each quote states its Incoterm. EXW covers the finished sofa at our Foshan factory; FOB adds China export local charges; CIF adds sea freight and insurance to your port. The sofa itself includes the full vacuum-compressed pack: foam body, frame, upholstery, inner bag and export carton. Removable covers, upgraded fabrics and branding are itemised separately so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

How do I calculate the value of a full container?

Container value = loading quantity × EXW unit price. The loading quantity comes from the container loading calculator (206–400 units per 40HQ depending on model), and China port charges add roughly USD 1,000 per container on top of EXW for FOB terms. Sea freight is quoted at current rates per destination port.

Why is one quote higher than another for the same size sofa?

Usually foam and fabric. A "same size" sofa can carry 30D foam instead of 36D, or a fixed cover instead of a removable, washable one — the removable cover with inner bag roughly doubles the upholstery labour and material cost versus bare foam, and it is the first thing cut from a cheap quote. Compare foam density, cover type and packaging line by line, not just the total.

How does sample pricing work?

Sample pricing is 1.5× the EXW unit price, with express shipping paid by the buyer. The sample fee is credited in full against your first bulk order, and samples ship in 7–15 days.
