16 CFR Part 1633 is the US federal open-flame flammability standard for mattresses. It sets a pass/fail performance requirement for the mattress set (mattress + foundation) sold in the United States. Note the distinction:

The UK requires furniture to meet the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations, tested to BS 5852 and classified to BS 7177. Other EU countries apply national requirements, and the US has its own state and federal rules. Always confirm the standard for your target market with the manufacturer.
Ask for third-party test reports from an accredited laboratory (e.g. SGS or TÜV) naming the specific standard, the model tested, and the ignition-source result. A supplier that cannot produce a report for the exact standard you need should not be trusted on this claim.
